The Dharma and Heritage curriculum has four strands: Culture, Music, Shlokas, and
Stories. In the Culture strand, students gain awareness about India’s rich culture
and traditions and feel a sense of pride in being of Indian origin. In the Music and
Shlokas strands, students learn to sing simple bhajans and chant shlokas with their
meanings. Understanding the meaning of bhajans and shlokas helps students
value what they are saying. In the Stories strand, students learn about morals from
ancient fables as well as modern tales. The culmination of all the strands together
helps students understand more deeply the various cultures and traditions that
coexist among Indians, and the role of the Vedic systems in maintaining the society
and universe.
